Lehigh posts best finish since '04; Suarez 2nd

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Lehigh wrapped up action at the 2010 Patriot League championship on Sunday as the Mountain Hawks shot a 302 over the course of the final 18 holes to place second in the seven-school tournament with a 909 (307, 300, 302).  The second place finish is Lehigh’s best since finishing second in 2004.  Senior captain Steve Suarez placed second individually with a 222 (70, 74, 78) to lead the Brown and White and earned First Team All-Patriot League honors.  Lafayette won the team crown with a 902 (303, 295, 304), with the Mountain Hawks in second followed by Army (912), Navy (914), Bucknell (917), Colgate (928) and Holy Cross (936).

 

Other Mountain Hawks that competed this weekend include Doug Marcincin who shot a 227 (80, 74, 73) and tied for sixth place, Dwight D’Iorio who shot a 229 (76, 77, 76) and tied for tenth place, Sean Keller who shot a 233 (83, 75, 75) and tied for 21st, Dylan Evans who tied for 32nd place and shot a 241 (82, 81, 78) and Tim Rosenhouse who shot a 245 (81, 80, 84) and tied for 36th place.  For his efforts Marcincin landed on the All-Patriot League Second Team along with D'Iorio.

 

Rob Roberton won the individual crown with a 221 with Matt Philie in third place with a 223 and Steven Zychowski and Josh Edelson tying for fourth place with identical 224s.
