BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh placed three football student-athletes on the 2010 Sports Network FCS All-America teams, announced on Wednesday. Senior cornerback Jarard Cribbs earned the first All-America selection by earning a spot on the first team, while senior offensive lineman Will Rackley and sophomore wide receiver Ryan Spadola were named to the third team. For Rackley, this selection marks the second All-America honor of his season, as he was named to the Associated Press All-America first team last week.
All three of Lehigh's Sports Network All-Americans were first team All-Patriot League selections last month.
In September, Cribbs intercepted a pass against Villanova and added two pickoffs the following week in a win over Princeton, which garnered him Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors. Cribbs added interceptions in Mountain Hawk wins over Harvard, Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette. In the win over Colgate on October 30, Cribbs returned his interception 48 yards for his first career interception return touchdown.
The well-traveled Cribbs ranked fifth on the Mountain Hawks with 59 total tackles. He also led Lehigh with 12 passes defensed and delivered a key blocked field goal in Lehigh's first round FCS playoff win at Northern Iowa.
Rackley picks up his second All-America nod from this season and the third of his career. The senior co-captain started all 13 games at left tackle in 2010 and started the last 40 games of his career on Lehigh's offensive line.
One of the most dominant offensive linemen in Patriot League history, Rackley anchored a line the allowed just 14 sacks in 2010 and one that paved the way for the league's second ranked passing offense and scoring offense.
The Riverdale, Georgia native is a three-time first-team All-Patriot League selection and previously earned third team AP All-America honors in 2009.
Spadola's breakout game was October 16 at Harvard where the New Jersey native caught a school record-tying 14 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns, as Lehigh overcame a 17-0 halftime deficit to win 21-19. The following week, Spadola caught three touchdowns in the Mountain Hawks' 32-10 win over Bucknell.
The Mountain Hawks' three All-Americans mark the fourth time since 1988 that Lehigh had at least three players honored by the Sports Network.
Lehigh won its ninth Patriot League Championship in 2010 and advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs.
