Lehigh places fifth at final fall tournament

PISCATAWAY, N.Y. – In its final event of the fall season the Lehigh women's golf team finished fifth out of 20 teams at the Rutgers Invitational, which concluded Saturday at the Rutgers University Golf Course. Freshman Crystal Lee led the Mountain Hawks, tying for 8th place overall with a 161 (81, 80).
As a team, Lehigh shot a 657 (331, 326) in the 36-hole event that began Friday, was delayed due to darkness and wrapped up on Saturday. Twenty teams battled windy conditions over the two days, with the Mountain Hawks finishing fifth, 15 shots behind Fairleigh Dickinson, which captured the team title with a 642 (339, 303). Bucknell, St. John's and Siena occupied spots two through four.
Aside from Lee's top-ten finish, other Mountain Hawks who competed included sophomore Chelsea Michalek (85, 81) and senior Emily Endres (83, 83) who tied for 27th, and sophomores Natalie Lansing (87, 82 – 169) and Ginette Schapira (82, 88 – 170) who tied for 40th and 47th respectively.
Sacred Heart's Gabriella Riber earned medalist honors with a 155 (79, 76), three shots better than FDU's Lisa Warrilow.
The tournament concluded Lehigh's fall season. The Mountain Hawks will return to the links in the spring.
