Lehigh ends play at rain shortened Cornell Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. – Due to rain in the area the Cornell Fall Invite was called after only 36 holes of competition on Sunday.  The golfers played 18 holes on Saturday and finished the second round on Sunday before heavy rain hit the area.  Lehigh finished in seventh place in the 15-school tournament as the Mountain Hawks totaled a 614 (308, 306) with Doug Marcincin shooting the team’s lowest score of the weekend with a 153 (78, 75).  Binghamton won the team crown after shooting a 590 (295, 295) with Bucknell in second with a 597 (306, 291), Delaware in third (308, 291 = 599), Lafayette in fourth (306, 301 = 607) and Cornell placing fifth with a 608 (312, 296).

Also competing for Lehigh was Steve Suarez who shot a 154 (74, 80) and tied for 34th place, Tim Rosenhouse who tied for 38th with a 155 (82, 73), Dwight D’Iorio (77, 79 = 156) who tied for 41st place and Sean Keller who shot a 158 (79, 79) and tied for 50th place.

 

Individually Bucknell’s Brian Bartow took home the medal as he shot a 143 (74, 69), while Andrew Cohen of Bucknell (76, 69) and Jake Katz of Binghamton (75, 70) both shot a 145 and tied for second place.


Lehigh will return to action on October 4 when the Brown and White opens play in the two-day Delaware Invitational.
