Mountain Hawks suffer 5-2 setback at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Lehigh men’s tennis team fell to 0-2 in Patriot League play with a 5-2 loss to Army Saturday evening at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. Sophomore Troy List was a winner at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles but the Black Knights picked up the doubles point and won four of six singles flights to win their league opener, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 5-13 overall.
List and partner sophomore Collin Laffey downed Phil Muhawi and Tripp Johnson at No. 1 doubles 8-4, but the Black Knights picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to capture the first point of the match.
In singles play, List picked up his first win of the league season 6-3, 6-4 over Muhawi, but Army clinched the victory with wins at second, third, fourth and sixth singles. Freshman Edgars Rauza beat Pete Williams 6-1, 7-5 at No. 5 singles for Lehigh’s other point. The Mountain Hawks lineup was bolstered by the return of freshman Leland Richardson, who fell 6-3, 7-6 to Chris Albornoz at third singles.
The Mountain Hawks will be back in action on Thursday when they host rival Lafayette. First serves are set for 3 p.m. from the Lewis Tennis Center.
