Cross country teams honored

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) released its All-Academic Teams on Tuesday, and both the Lehigh men’s and women’s teams were named to the list. Only 98 of the 299 Division I men’s teams and 158 of the 325 women’s teams received this honor. To qualify, a team must have competed and compiled a team score in an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum team GPA of 3.0.

The Mountain Hawks were also part of an even more exclusive list, as they were one of only 83 Division I schools to have both their men’s and women’s teams honored. Lehigh was joined by Colgate as the only two schools in the Patriot League to have their men’s and women’s teams earn All-Academic honors.

Iona College was named the men’s All-Academic Team of the Year, after finishing second at the NCAA Championships and carrying a team GPA of 3.0. Belmont University had the highest men’s team GPA with a 3.57.

Stanford was named the women’s All-Academic Team of the Year, after capturing the Division I championship and earning a 3.47 GPA in the classroom. South Florida led all the schools with a team GPA of 3.78.
