BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) released their second regional poll of the season on Monday, with the Lehigh men’s cross country team checking in at No. 13. The Brown and White were ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll, and after a dominating performance against Lafayette, they have proved they belong among the elite teams in the Mid-Atlantic. The woman’s team fell out of the rankings despite putting up a great effort against the Leopards.
On the men’s side, Georgetown and Princeton remained at the top of the poll, with Villanova and Penn State each moving up one spot, after American slid down to No. 8. Navy made the biggest jump, when it moved from No. 8 to No. 5, after a fourth place finish at Iona’s Meet of Champions.
In the women’s poll, the top two spots also remained the same with Princeton and Georgetown ranked one and two. Two Patriot League opponents made their first appearances in the poll, with Navy at No. 9 and American checking in at No. 12.
The Mountain Hawks will race for the first time in two weeks on Friday, when they host the Paul Short Run. The race will feature over 90 schools, including 21 nationally ranked teams from Divisions I, II, and III. The race is schedule to start at 1 p.m. on the Goodman Campus.
