Lehigh announces 2007 cross country schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Head coach Debbie Utesch has announced the Mountain Hawks 2007 schedule, which features three home dates, including the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional race in early November. Lehigh will also host the Lehigh Valley Championships in early September as well as the 34th edition of the nationally renowned Paul Short Run later that month.

Following the Lehigh Valley Championships on September 7, the Mountain Hawks will head to Easton one week later to take on archrival Lafayette on September 15. The first race is set to begin at 10:00 AM. The Paul Short Run will take place on Friday, September 28 on the Goodman Campus. The first race is scheduled for 2:00.

October features a trio of races for the Brown and White, including the Penn State National Invite on October 12, the Lafayette Invitational on October 13 and the 2007 Patriot League Championships on October 27. The league championships will take place in Easton, marking the third race Lehigh competes in this season on the campus of Lafayette College.

Lehigh returns home on November 10 to host the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, which were also held in Bethlehem in 2005. On November 19 the NCAA Championships will take place in Terre Haute, Indiana. Back in 2005, Jen Schappert ’07 became the first female Mountain Hawk to qualify for nationals.

Lehigh begins its 2007 season on Friday, September 7 when the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Valley Championships on the Goodman Campus. The first race is scheduled to begin at 5:00.
