Mountain Hawks wrap up season

On the women’s side, Lehigh won the first two meets as the Mountain Hawks scored 25 points at the Lehigh Valley Cross Country Championships and 22 points against

Individually, senior Jenni Schappert and sophomore Shannon Alejandro were the only two Mountain Hawks to run sub-22:00 in the 6K races. Schappert, who collected two first place finishes during the season, ran her season-best 21:27 at the Paul Short Run where she finished 24th. Alejandro ran her career-best time of 21:56 at the regional meet at
Freshman Kaitlin Grimm became the first Mountain Hawk to collect Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors. Grimm ran a sub-24:00 in every race except for one. She also had her career-best race at the regional meet as she ran sub-23:00 for the first time. Grimm, who was second for the Brown and White, ran a time of 22:57.
“Overall, it was not the season that we anticipated,” said Schappert. “We had some things go wrong that we could not really have planned. However, despite that, I’m pleased with how our team pulled it together.”
For the men, the Mountain Hawks enjoyed quite a bit of success as they swept the competition at the Lehigh Valley Championships, nearly swept

Seniors Sean Swift, Victor Vientos and Brendan Glover hold the top six fastest times of the season in 8K races. Additionally, the trio are the only men to run a sub-31:00 in the two 10K races the Mountain Hawks raced. All three ran their season-best 8K time at the Paul Short Run with Swift clocking in at 24:33, Vientos at 24:52 and Glover at 25:18. In the 10K races, the three had their top times at the Chile Pepper Festival racing a 30:33 (Swift), a 30:39 (Vientos) and a 30:59 (Glover).
