BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In the Brooks Paul Short College Invitational, senior Sean Swift not only ran his fastest time of the season thus far, but also his fastest Paul Short time ever when he crossed the line in 24:33. For his performance, Swift earned Runner of the Week in the Patriot League’s weekly awards, as it was announced on Tuesday. This is the second honor Swift has received in the season with the first being an honorable mention two weeks ago for his race-winning performance against Lafayette.
The Tenafly, N.J. native led the Mountain Hawks, placing ninth out of 278 runners. Swift knocked 21 seconds off his previous season-best 24:54, which he ran against Lafayette. In last year’s Paul Short run, Swift was the second Mountain Hawk to cross the line, finishing in a time of 24:44, which was also a season-best for 2005.
The Mountain Hawks will next compete in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on October 14. The men’s collegiate 10K race is scheduled to start at 9:45 am with the women’s collegiate 6K race to follow at 10:30 am.
