NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Lehigh returns to action this Saturday morning when it travels to compete in the prestigious Br. John "Paddy" Doyle/Iona College Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park. This is the 11th edition of the meet, which will feature twenty-five men's teams and 24 women's teams. The Mountain Hawks have won each of their first two meets this season, beginning with the Lehigh Valley Championships on September 2, and again on September 17 versus archrival
The men's field features several nationally ranked teams, including eleven-time national champion Senior Rob Hampson, who was named the Patriot League Runner of the Week following the Lehigh Valley Champs, leads the men for Lehigh, who are currently ranked tenth in the Mid-Atlantic Region. But he is not alone, as (Lafayette Dual Meet winner) juniors Brendan Glover, Sean Swift, Victor Vientos and senior Tyler Spencer help to form a solid “pack” at the forefront for the Mountain Hawk men. On the women's side, the FinishLynx Women's Cross Country Rankings has Meet of Champions competitor Senior Andrea Luebbe, fresh off of her second Lafayette Dual Meet Championship in two seasons, combines with juniors Jen Schappert and Sarah Seiler to give the Brown and White a potent trio. Junior Carolyn House and senior co-captain Tracie Fails provide great depth for the Lehigh women, along with a trio of freshmen, in Shannon Alejandro, Jen Filiberto and Katie McClernand. Several regionally ranked teams are also participating in the men's race. Iona tops all teams in the Northeast poll, while Cornell (5), Brown (6), Army (8) and Saturday’s meet gets underway at 9:30 AM with the women’s race, while the men will get things going at 10:15.
