Lehigh men chosen fourth in preseason poll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Following a fourth place finish at the 2004 Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh men’s cross country team has been selected to duplicate that finish in 2005, in the Patriot League preseason poll. The poll, announced on Wednesday, is voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. Defending champion American was selected to repeat, and the Eagles were followed by Navy, Army, the Mountain Hawks, Bucknell, Colgate, Lafayette and Holy Cross.

Senior captain Rob Hampson returns for Lehigh, as he caps off of a fantastic career, which has included multiple All-Patriot League selections. Victor Vientos (2004 All-Patriot League selection) and Sean Swift also return for the Brown and White, giving head coach Debbie Utesch a solid trio of runners at the front of the pack. Other Mountain Hawks expected to have strong seasons are Steve Rosinski, Tyler Spencer, Brendan Glover and Dave Merola.

The Mountain Hawks open their 2005 season on Friday afternoon at home, when they host the Lehigh Valley Championships on the Goodman Campus Course. The first race is set for 5:00, followed by the second, slated for 5:45.
