Spafford receives honorable mention

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Shannon Spafford received an honorable mention from the Patriot League Monday, for her performance this past weekend against Lafayette. In the team’s 3-2 win over the Leopards, Spafford recorded a season high 22 kills, 12 digs and a season high nine blocks. It was her fifth double-double of the year, and third in her last four matches.

The Mountain Hawks needed all 31 points that Spafford accounted for, as the match went into extra points in the deciding fifth game. It was Spafford’s ninth block of the game that sealed the deal for the Brown and White, as the senior picked up her first career win over archrival Lafayette.

This is the second time this season a Lehigh player has been recognized by the Patriot League. On September 16, freshman Brittany Dickinson received an honorable mention for her play in two matches against Wagner.

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Delaware for their final non-conference game of the season. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. from Newark, Del.
