Mountain Hawks reflect on season at banquet

Senior tri-captain Michelle Schwendenmann received the Athlete of the Year Award for the third time in her career. The award is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Schwendenmann also won the award as a freshman and as a junior. She garnered five honorable mentions from the Patriot League during the regular season and was the only Mountain Hawk to earn All-League honors when she was named to the Second-Team for the second straight year. Schwendenmann ended her senior year campaign with single season-best totals in kills and digs with 394 and 258, respectively. She had 11 double-doubles, including nine against league opponents and four in consecutive matches.
The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. Senior tri-captain Courtney Cherry was honored with the award. Majoring in international relations, Cherry posted a 3.57 grade point average in the fall and maintains an overall GPA of 3.50. Cherry was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s List in her first semester at Lehigh and is a multi-year honoree of the Academic Honor Roll. On the court, Cherry appeared in 27 matches and recorded 92 digs.
Senior Cassidy Maumus was the recipient of this year’s Coaches Award for the second straight year. The award is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. A tri-captain, Maumus appeared in 24 matches, missing five due to an injury. She recorded a team-best 348 digs, averaging 4.30 digs per game. The
