BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second straight week, senior Michelle Schwendenmann and freshman Sarah Wolfe received Patriot League honorable mentions for their performances this past weekend, as it was announced by the Patriot League on Monday. It marks the third time Schwendenmann has received a league honor, while it is the second time Wolfe has received recognition.
A senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, Schwendenmann recorded two double-doubles this past weekend versus Bucknell and Colgate, pushing her streak to four and bringing her double-double total to five. In Friday night’s match against Bucknell, she had a match high 20 kills and 13 digs. Less than 24 hours later, Schwendenmann recorded a season and match-high of 25 kills and 13 digs en route to a team best .304 hitting percentage. Schwendenmann has 83 kills and 56 digs against Patriot League opponents. Her 25 kills vs. Colgate is the Patriot League’s top match-high against league opponents and is tied for second with Army’s Elizabeth Lazzari and American’s Rubena Sukaj when considering all opponents. Schwendenmann ranks second with 4.88 kills per game when against league opponents.
Wolfe had two assist/dig double-doubles this weekend, recording 43 assists and 13 digs against Bucknell and 49 assists and 12 digs against Colgate. In league play, the San Diego, Calif. native has not recorded any less than 39 assists. Wolfe has averaged out 11.00 assists per game against league competition, which is fourth among the league’s leaders. Also, Wolfe’s 49 assists is tied for fourth among conference matches that last four games. Her 56 assists against Navy still tops conference matches that total five games.
Lehigh continues with league play on Friday night when the Mountain Hawks host rival Lafayette at the Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
