CSI: A homecoming of sorts

After a successful trip to the Rider Cranberry Classic last weekend, the Lehigh volleyball team will take to the road again this weekend for the Cleveland State Invitational in Cleveland, OH. After going 2-1 and placing two players on the all-tournament team, the Mountain Hawks hope to keep gaining confidence heading towards the Mountain Hawk Classic next weekend.
The trip will be a homecoming of sorts for a couple Lehigh players. Junior Jill Racketa is from Stow, OH, and is very excited about the chance to go home. "We’ve never played in Ohio since I’ve been here," said Racketa. "I have a ton of family, friends, and neighbors who will be coming to watch us play."
Coach Patrick Nicholas is excited about the trip as well. "It will be great for girls like Jill and Michelle (Schwendenmann, who is from Cincinnati) to get to play in front of people they know," said Nicholas. "I just saw the list of people Katie Dukatz (from Wisconsin) is bringing, it’s a ton!"
Aside from the homecoming for some of the players, the tournament will give the Mountain Hawks a chance to put what they practice into play. "We have been working on fundamentals all week, individual drills and things like that. The teams in this tournament are all tough, so it will be interesting to see if our practice pays off."
The Mountain Hawks will take on IPFW, St. Francis (PA), Oakland, and host Cleveland State in four matches over the weekend.
