Bethlehem, PA- Following a hugely successful 21-13 season, the Lehigh volleyball team held its annual banquet on Sunday at the Buca di Beppo restaurant. The banquet, which serves as a season wrap up for the squad, and a goodbye for the seniors, also is the setting for handing out team awards.
Earning this year’s Athlete of the Year award is senior, Rochelle Healea. Healea broke Lehigh’s career records for most kills and most attempts, while helping push the Mountain Hawks deep into the Patriot League Tournament.
The scholar athlete of the year award goes to junior Jill Kober. Kober spent a large portion of her first two seasons on the bench for Lehigh, however, due to the implementation of the Libero position, coach Nicholas found a spot for the co-captain the back row as a defensive specialist. Kober notched a team high 483 digs. That mark was also tops in the Patriot League. As a student, Kober’s achievements are even greater. Mathematics major, Kober posted a 3.78 grade point average this past fall and maintains a GPA well above 3.0.
Rounding out the evening’s awards was the Coaches Award. This award was presented to Jeannette Singleton. Singleton led the Mountain Hawks in kills and was second on the team in kills per game and attack percentage, just behind Healea.
