Lehigh steams past Bucknell 3-1

Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh and Bucknell battled hard for four games but in the end it was Lehigh who picked up the 3-1 win. Lehigh improves to 17-9 overall, 8-1 in league play, while Bucknell falls to 12-10 overall, 6-3 in league play.
Statistically for Lehigh, Rochelle Healea led the way with a match high 24 kills and 23 digs. Kill 24 for Healea broke the all-time Lehigh kills record of Kelly Kramer, set between 1991-94. Healea now has 1,337 career kills.
"I want to thank Kira Bosak, our setter my first three seasons, as well as Lisa Furusawa, our current setter," Healea said. "With out them, none of my accomplishments would have occurred.
Other statistical leaders for Lehigh included Lisa Furusawa with 60 assists and Morgan Volkart with five blocks.
For Bucknell, Melanie Ghiz led the way with 18 kills. Breean Trapasso tallied 49 assists, while sister and teammate Brandi Trapasso posted 23 digs.
"We fought hard and we played well," said Healea.
"We knew that we were going to have to battle Bucknell tonight," said head coach Patrick Nicholas. "Our defense and serving assisted in this win. Offensively, we hit well and I’m very proud of Rochelle for her accomplishments.
Lehigh returns home on Friday, November 1st for a 7:00 p.m. start. The Mountain Hawks will also play Saturday vs. Army.
