Rivalry match ends in three

Easton, PA – Lehigh upended rival Lafayette Friday night in Patriot League action to improve its record to 15-9 on the season, 6-1 in league play. With the loss Lafayette falls to 1-19 overall, 0-7 in league play.
Jeanette Singleton paced the Mountain Hawks with 14 kills and four service aces. Singleton also added 10 digs and three assists. Other statistical leaders for Lehigh included Jill Kober with 20 digs, Lisa Furusawa with 19 assists, and Katie Dukatz with six total blocks. Three-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week Morgan Volkart managed two kills, two assists, eight digs, and five block-assists en route to the win.
For Lafayette, Kate Walkenhorst posted a team high eight kills along with six digs, while teammate Erin Brune tallied seven kills, 13 digs, and two block-assists in the loss.
"Lafayette is a better team than their record indicates," said head coach Patrick Nicholas. "They came at us hard in the first game and we weren’t ready. We did some things different and that helped us win the match, however, we didn’t come mentally prepared," added Nicholas. "Colgate is going to be another tough match and we need a good week of practice if we hope to be successful."
Lehigh will face off against Colgate on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The match can be heard live on the Lehigh website at www.lehigh.edu.
