Lehigh falls to American

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh was defeated by American University 3-0 Friday at Grace Hall. The loss puts and end to the Mountain Hawks’ six match winning streak and drops the squads record to 12-9 overall, 4-1 in league play. With the victory American improves to 13-6 overall, 5-0 in league play.
Lehigh was swept by scores of 30-19, 30-12, and 30-17. Leading the way for the Mountain Hawks was Jeanette Singleton and Rochelle Healea, each with seven kills. Katie Dukatz and Morgan Volkart each notched five blocks while Lisa Furusawa managed 17 assists. For American, Catherine Fluegeman managed 10 kills while Cutrina Biddulph tallied eight kills and six blocks.
"American came in here tonight and served us off of our own court," said head coach Patrick Nicholas. "We couldn’t attack the ball and we didn’t do a good job of setting either. They (American) really made a statement tonight. They put us in our place and showed us that we a second place Patriot League team. We have to rebound from this fast because Navy is coming in here and they are hungry for a win."
Lehigh returns to action tomorrow evening at Grace Hall to face Navy in Patriot League action. Match time is 7:00.
