Poole named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball freshman Taylor Poole was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday. A middle back for the Mountain Hawks, Poole had a career weekend as she helped the Brown and White return to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2003. Lehigh finished the regular season 14-15 overall with a 7-7 league record.
The Mountain Hawks traveled to Holy Cross on Friday night and defeated the Crusaders 3-1 to clinch the final tournament spot. Poole added nine kills, six digs and had an impressive .386 hitting percentage. Lehigh couldn’t keep the momentum going Saturday night as it lost 3-1 to the first place Army Black Knights. Poole contributed a career-high 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the loss, though. For the two matches she had a team-high .432 hitting percentage.
On the season Poole has played in 108 sets and is fourth on the team with 171 kills. The Keller, Texas, native has also contributed along the net as she is second on the team with 54 total blocks.
The Mountain Hawks will head back to West Point this weekend as the Brown and White will take on Army in first round tournament action. No. 2 American and No. 3 Colgate will also be squaring off on Saturday and the winner of the two matches will face each other on Sunday.
