Lehigh hosts Holy Cross in Patriot League opener

“The team is so pumped to enter conference play,” Lehigh head coach Jenny Maurer said. “They have really raised their level of play and they’ve learned a lot from the non-conference matches. Now they’re just ready to put it to use.”

This is the 34th meeting all time between Lehigh and Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks maintain the edge in the overall series, with a 22-11 record, but the Crusaders have controlled the recent history, winning seven of the last eight matchups.
In this, her second season as head coach of the Mountain Hawks, Maurer said the league will once again notice her squad’s improvement from one year to the next.
“I think they were pleasantly surprised last year,” Maurer said. “But now we’re able to do even more. We’re much faster offensively and we’re keeping the ball off the floor defensively. We’re just a better team overall.”
