Lehigh opens season with strong showing

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lehigh opened its 2008 fall season at the Bucknell Invitational this weekend as the Mountain Hawks shot a 647 (329, 318) to finish fourth in the 12-team tournament. Livia Amado was Lehigh’s top finisher as she shot a 150 (76, 74) to place third overall, while Samantha Formeck from Youngstown State was the individual winner with a 147 (73, 74). Penn State won the team crown by shooting a 610 (313, 297), and the Nittany Lions were followed by Youngstown State (619), Rutgers (642), the Mountain Hawks and Bucknell (659) to round out the top-five.
Other Mountain Hawks that competed were Jen Nagel who shot a 156 (78, 78) and finished in a tie for ninth place, Ana Nam who tied for 31st place with a 169 (88, 81), Taylor Orr who shot a 172 and tied for 39th place, and Jasmin Hughes who shot a 174 (89, 85) and tied for 45th place overall.
Caroline Boyer (81, 84 = 165), Ashley Amador (83, 86 = 169) and Erika Kretschmann (92, 91 = 193) also competed for Lehigh, but their scores did not count towards the team total.
Lehigh returns to action on September 12 when the Mountain Hawks head to Kutztown to compete in the Kutztown Invitational.
