BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a career day in Lehigh’s game at Holy Cross this past weekend, senior safety Quadir Carter was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.  The Bethlehem native notched a career-high with 13 tackles against the Crusaders as well as a pair of interceptions.  This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Carter, and the third time this season a Mountain Hawk has been honored after senior linebacker Tim Diamond and sophomore defensive back/punt returner Jarard Cribbs received accolades earlier.

Carter led the Mountain Hawks in Worcester with nine solo stops and 13 total tackles, both career-highs.  Each of his interceptions came in the red zone during the second quarter, one of which he made a spectacular play where he dove in front of a Holy Cross receiver.  His two picks are now tied for the team lead this season, and give him four for his career.  Carter also picked off a pass in Lehigh’s last trip to Holy Cross in 2006.

A social psychology major, Carter is second on the Mountain Hawks with 54 total tackles this season.  He has four games of double digit stops and is among the team leaders with three pass breakups.  He also has three tackles-for-loss and one sack.

Carter and the rest of the Mountain Hawks are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas at Multi-Sport Field.  Kick-off is set for 1:00 and all of the action will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM as well as Lehighsports.com with Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha ’00 and Matt Markus on the call.  Pre-game coverage gets underway at noon.
