PISCATAWAY, N.J. – With a two round total of 147 (74, 73), junior Livia Amado won the individual championship at the Rutgers Invitational this weekend. The junior finished five strokes ahead of Penn’s Lisette Vitter and Albany’s Corrin Conroy who both shot a 152, as she led the Mountain Hawks to a second place team finish overall. The Brown and White shot a 633 (317, 316) and finished only four strokes off the lead, which was established by Boston College which shot a 629 (319, 310). Rounding out the top-five in the team standings were Albany (318, 317 = 635), Bucknell (328, 320 = 648) and Fairleigh Dickinson (320, 329 = 649).
Amado’s seven birdies throughout the weekend were tied with Vitter and Conroy for the most of any player, while her one-under total on the par 4 holes led all competitors. Amado has now won two tournaments this fall, including the Rutgers and Kutztown Invitationals, and she has placed in the top-ten in each of Lehigh’s four tournaments.
Also in New Jersey this weekend, Lehigh’s Ana Nam finished in a tie for 12th place after shooting a 158 (78, 80), while Jen Nagel tied for 20th place with a 160 (79, 81). Taylor Orr shot a 170 (88, 82) and tied for 45th place, while Ashley Amador rounded out the Lehigh scoring with a two round total of 176 (86, 90) which placed her in a tie for 61st place.
Lehigh will be back in action on October 25 when the Mountain Hawks close out their fall season as they host the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club.
