“It was a great way to end the season,” said head coach Rob Herb. “The men and women gave one of the best teams in the league a run today. The men won eight out of 16 events to make Bucknell work for their win. It was going to be a battle and the men made sure they brought their "A" game for the meet.
“It was electrifying, the guys really wanted to shine. The times were the fastest they have been all season. The women did not win many events, only 200 yard freestyle by Claire Winiarski, but they finished right behind the leaders with many second, third, fourth and fifth place finishes.”
In the men’s 800 yard freestyle relay, Andrew DiPeitro, Ryan Guttormsen, Dan Johnson and Jon Kearney broke the pool record, with a time of 7:01.94, finishing four seconds ahead of the second place Bucknell team.
Dan Johnson also set a new record in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 21.86 seconds, breaking the record by 0.04 seconds. He finished 0.6 seconds ahead of J.B. Peterman of Bucknell, who took second.
In the women’s 500 yard freestyle, Lehigh had teams finish second and third, with times of 5:15.20 and 5:16.54 respectively.
On the diving side, Clark Cohen had a first place finish in the one meter dive, with a score of 294.07. Erin Tormey took first place in the three meter dive, with a score of 200.2.
The Mountain Hawks return to the pool for the Patriot League Championships on February 21, at Navy.
