Mountain Hawks down Fairfield for first win

“We worked hard out there,” said Lehigh head coach Julie Mazer. “We took good care of the ball today and really took advantage of the opportunities that were presented to us. Some of the things that held us back in previous games we were able to improve on, mainly because we possessed the ball well all game.”
Junior Kalynn Davies gave the Mountain Hawks the lead ten minutes into the contest as she shot a rebound past Stags goalkeeper Elizabeth Thomas for her first goal of the season. Lehigh held a 10-1 first half advantage in shots, and took a 1-0 lead into the halftime.
The Mountain Hawks extended their lead three minutes into the second half, as sophomore Kelly Fox fed junior Kara Zweizig, who netted her second goal of the year to give Lehigh a two-goal advantage.
The three goals and 18 shots were both season highs for the Mountain Hawks. Senior Christy Smith took seven of the 18 shots, while Davies was credited with four shots on the afternoon.
Freshman Jessica Miller made a pair of saves in the goal cage to earn her first career win. Thomas did her part to keep the Stags close, sending back 11 shots.
