KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Senior catcher Mary Wieder drilled a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Lehigh to a 7-6 come-from-behind win over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mountain Hawks rallied from a 5-1 deficit, scoring six runs in the final two innings to get the win. In Lehigh’s second game on Tuesday, the Mountain Hawks were shut out by Monmouth 2-0. The Brown and White now stand at 2-2 on the season.

The Bonnies scored in four of the first five innings as they benefited from a pair of home runs to build a 5-1 lead. Lehigh plated its first run in the bottom of the third inning, when sophomore Kate Marvel came around to score on a wild pitch.

Marvel, the 2005 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, keyed Lehigh’s comeback with a bases loaded triple with two outs in the sixth inning. Junior Julie Sterrett drove in Lehigh’s second run with an RBI single, before coming around to score on Marvel’s triple.

In the final frame, sophomore Taryn Hanley started things off with a single and then junior Lauren Haney sacrificed pinch runner Katherine Wegert to second, but small-ball was not needed as Wieder’s blast gave Lehigh its second win of the season.

Kate Arico pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the win and even her record at 1-1. Junior Stefanie Forlenza got the start in the circle, allowing four earned runs and eight hits in six innings with four strikeouts.

For the second straight day the Lehigh bats were silenced in the nightcap. The Mountain Hawks mustered just seven hits. Monmouth got on the board with an Alyson Slattery home run in the second inning and tacked on one more in the fifth.

Freshman Lisa Sweeney yielded just two runs, while striking out 10, as she falls to 1-1 on the year.

Lehigh will be off on Wednesday and will return to the diamond with a pair of games on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks will face UMKC at 10:40 am and then meet Maine at 2:20 pm, in games five and six of their ten game slate at the Rebel Spring Games.
