Records fall, others qualify for ECAC/IC4A's at Bucknell

In the women’s competition, Karen Welby posted a time of 2:17.50 in the 800-meters to place 11th, while Tracie Fails raced her way to a third place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:54.06. In the 5,000-meter run, Schappert crossed the finish line in third place with a qualifying time of 17:19.70, and House finished the 10,000 –meters in a time of 37:48.50, which broke the school record set by Megan Ackers in 2002, and placed House in eighth place for the event. In the 100-meter hurdles, Montegary and Mary Guenther came in fifth and sixth place respectively with times of 15.01 seconds and 15.20 seconds, and Montegary followed that up with a second place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, as she qualified for next month’s regional championships with a time of 1:02.70.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Andrea Luebbe finished in a time of 11:19.12, placing her in eighth place, while the 4x100-meter relay team of Lindsay Hinsch, Montegary, Nicole Fatigati and Kim Rhodes came in fifth place with a time of 49.83 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Montegary, K.T. Hessler, Fatigati and Lauren King placed ninth with a time of 4:06.80 seconds and the 4x800-meter relay team of Welby, Fails, Liz Haight and Eleni Sarigianis raced to a time of 9:32.71, good for second place. In the high jump, Hinsch and Lauren Edwards tied for top honors with a leap of 5’5”, while in the pole vault, Roth shattered the school record of 10’6” set by Tara Santoroski in 1999, as the freshman cleared 10’10”, placing her in a tie for fifth place. In the long jump competition, Hinsch took fifth place, as she recorded a jump of 17’2”, and she followed that up with a leap of 34’9” in the triple jump, which placed her in ninth place.
On the men’s side, Lavar Pope and David Falk came in ninth and tenth place respectively in the 100-meter dash, as just one tenth of a second separated the two Mountain Hawk sprinters. Falk then took 16th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.74 seconds. Kyle Manning took 13th place in the 800-meter run as he crossed the finish line in a time of 1:57.80 and Hampson placed seventh with his qualifying run in the 5,000-meters crossing in a time of 14:35.00. Hudgins and Boyle then went to work in the 10,000-meters, as Hudgins finished second in a time of 30:46.16 and Boyle crossed in a time of 30:55.63, placing him in sixth place. Vaclav Malek finished in eighth place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.38 seconds, and the 4x100-meter (Pope, Craig Percopo, Colin Keefe and Falk) 4x400-meter (John Heim, Peter Marchildon, Manning and Rich Little) and 4x800-meter (Kevin Ahearn, Dave Merola, David Little and Scott Duryea) relay teams all placed sixth in their respective races.
In the high jump, Malek tied for second place, as the junior cleared 6’7”, while in the hammer throw, senior captain Nick Maiorino placed eighth with a toss of 145’6”.
