Kutztown, PA – Lehigh senior captain Alexis Foucek shot an 83 to tie for individual medalist honors as the Mountain Hawks won the 2005 Kutztown Spring Invitational by a whopping 18 strokes – its largest-ever margin of victory – on Tuesday afternoon. Lehigh wins the tournament with a team score of 347. Kutztown and Mount St. Mary’s each shot a 365 overall. The 18-hole event was hosted by Kutztown University, and it took place under near-perfect weather conditions at Berkleigh Country Club.

Led by Foucek, Lehigh’s top four golfers all recorded top ten performances. Sophomore Kassia Nelson finished fifth with an 87. Freshmen Alison Webb and Yvonne Kukora finished in a tie for sixth and eighth, respectively. Webb shot an 88 and Kukora an 89 on the day. Lehigh junior Sarah March also took part in the competition, posting a 103.

In addition to Foucek, Wagner’s Emily Noelker also recorded an 83 on the afternoon to tie for the top spot.

Lehigh returns to the links on Saturday, April 2, as the Mountain Hawks head to Leesburg, Va. to take part in the two-day Hoya Invitational, hosted by Georgetown. The Mountain Hawks will be in search of back-to-back victories for the first time in the program’s four-year history.
