Lehigh takes first two at Bash at the Beach

Georgetown, DE – Lehigh opened up play at the 2005 Mizuno/Delaware State Bash at the Beach with a pair of wins on Friday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks outlasted Saint Peter’s by a 5-4 score in an eight-inning affair to open the tournament. Later in the day, Lehigh blanked UMBC by a 3-0 count. With the pair of wins, the Mountain Hawks run their record to 11-3 on the season.
In the opener, Jess Young ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to propel Lehigh to the win. Heather Hamasaki picked up the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Mountain Hawks to improve her record to a perfect 3-0 on the season.
Later in the afternoon, the Mountain Hawks used a three-run homer from Kelly Kliewer – her first of the season – to top UMBC by a 3-0 score. Kliewer’s blast broke a scoreless deadlock in the fifth.
Emily Ling (4-2) picked up the victory for the Mountain Hawks.
