Lehigh swept at Bucknell in regular season finale

Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh completed its regular season on Saturday afternoon, heading west to take on league foe Bucknell.  The Mountain Hawks competed strong all day long, but both the men and the women came up short in the end.  The Lehigh men fell to the Bison by a 165-135 count, while the Mountain Hawk women came up on the short end of a 176-114 score.

 

For the Lehigh men, freshman Jonathan Kearney took first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:56.23, while the 200-yard medley team of Thomas Gilbert, Grant Flothmeier, William Green and Jess Dudley swam their way to the crown in a time of 1:35.05.  Flothmeier then back that up with a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, as he finished in a time of 57.75 seconds.  Green also captured two individual events of his own, winning the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.47 seconds and taking first in the 100-yard butterfly ending with a time of 51.40 seconds.  Daniel Buschmann scored nine points for the Brown and White with a first place finish in the 200-yard IM, as he finished in a time of 1:58.54.  In the diving competition, Patrick Ryan won the 3-meter event, with a score of 293.17 in the finals.

 

On the women’s side, Betsy Balaguer won the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 10:37.19 and she added a second first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:10.20.

Lehigh will return to the pool on February 24 when the Mountain Hawks return to Lewisburg for the Patriot League Championships.  The action is slated to get underway at 10:30 am.
