Freshman Patrick Starsinic continued to sizzle for the Mountain Hawks as he found the back of the net for the fourth time this season at the 73:06 mark off of a feed from Joe Clemente. Lehigh got the ball in off of a corner kick from senior Kyle Hartman and Clemente then fed Starsinic for the tally.
Holy Cross them came down the field and following a foul call had a free kick from just outside the 18-yard line. Anthony Cinelli took the kick and curved it just over the reach of Lehigh goal keeper Sam Bishop to tie the match at one. The two teams would battle into overtime where the Mountain Hawks had several scoring chances, including one by Adam Williamson when he ripped a ball right off of the crossbar that sent the crowd into an uproar. However, in the end no one could find the back of the net and the match ended in a tie.
Lehigh outshot the Crusaders 14-7 on the afternoon and had six corners to the Crusaders one. Bishop made three saves in goal for Lehigh, while Crusader goal keeper Richard Whipple sent back six Lehigh shots.
“It’s a frustrating result for us,” explained head coach Dean Koski after the game. “We got a good goal and then turned around and let up a bad goal following a dubious foul call. I’m frustrated for the kids because they played well today and they played hard.”
