Lehigh can't get two straight in close loss to Colgate

Colgate won the doubles point, as they took two of three sets to start the match. Evan Ambrose and Reed Hagmann broke Ty Esler and Alfredo Frenandez-Concha at 6-6 in the second set to take the set and the 2-1win.
In singles, Esler got off to a good start in the top flight against Hagmann, winning the first set 6-2. But Hagmann would bounce right back, taking the last two sets 6-0, 6-2, to keep Colgate on track. Randall Smalley would get Lehigh on the board though, winning the second flight 6-4, 7-6 over Eric Saccullo.
With the match score now 2-1, Colgate would take the third flight to make it 3-1 as Marshall Wheeler made quick work of Jon Swanson 6-1, 6-2. But Lehigh would not go away, as freshman Ryan Lloyd got the next point with a straight sets victory in the fourth flight.
Unfortunately, that would be where the Mountain Hawks would run out of steam, as Fernandex-Concha and Brad Nelson would lose the last two flights, giving Colgate the victory.
With the loss, Lehigh falls to 8-7 on the season (1-4 in the Patriot League), while league-leading Colgate improves to 12-6 overall, and remained unbeaten (5-0) in league matches.
Lehigh will be back in action on Tuesday, April 13, as they travel to take on
