March leads Lehigh at rain-shortened Hartford Invite

4/13/2004 12:00:00 AM | Women's Golf

West Hartford, CT – Led by sophomore Sarah March, Lehigh finished seventh in the rain-shortened Hartford Spring Invite on Monday.  March shot an 81 on Monday to end the day seven strokes behind front-runner Alison Walshe of Boston College.  Tuesday’s scheduled round was postponed due to rain at Wampanoag Country Club, reducing the tournament to the first day’s play.

March wrapped up the day +8 with her 81, placing her in a tie for sixth place overall.  After shooting a 43 on the front nine, the sophomore rebounded on the final nine holes to post a 38.  Freshman Kass Nelson was the second Lehigh finisher, with a score of 89.  Senior Danielle Kochenour shot a 90 for the Mountain Hawks, while co-captain Alexis Foucek (46-51) and sophomore Lauren Barton (48-49) each posted a 97 on the day.

As a team, the Mountain Hawks shot a 357 over the two days to capture seventh place honors.  Boston College, with a team score of 316, won the event by 22 strokes over second place Fairfield.

Lehigh returns to the links on Thursday, April 22, when the Mountain Hawks host the Patriot Spring Invite at Saucon Valley Country Club.
