Lehigh set to visit No. 10 Hofstra Sunday afternoon

11/26/2004 2:00:00 PM | Men's Wrestling

Lehigh will face its third consecutive Nationally Ranked opponent when the Mountain Hawks travel to Long Island to take on No. 10 Hofstra.  The Mountain Hawks are now 5-0 on the season in dual meets after defeating ranked foes Michigan and Penn State  their last two times out.  Hofstra opened its season with a tough 21-17 defeat at third ranked Nebraska. The Pride gave away six points via forfeit which proved to be the difference in the match.

Two Mountain Hawk grapplers participated in the 2004 Marines All-Star Classic presented by Real Pro Wrestling. The exhibition took place on November 22, and was organized by the NWCA and hosted by Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Both bouts involving Lehigh wrestlers were extremely close, as Cory Cooperman suffered a one point defeat in double overtime and Troy Letters utilized a riding time advantage to score a one point victory.

Tonight’s match with Hofstra marks the 10th meeting between the two schools. Lehigh holds an all-time 8-1 record against the Pride, with their only loss coming in 1998 at Grace Hall by a final of 21-19.
