Lehigh preps for championship showdown Saturday

11/4/2003 12:00:00 AM | Football

Once again, the stage is set for another Patriot League championship showdown as Lehigh visits Colgate.  Both teams enter Saturday’s contest with a perfect 4-0 league mark.  Over the last six years, the winner of this game has gone on to capture at least a share of the Patriot League title.

Last time out, the Mountain Hawks topped Towson by a 35-3 score on Family Day at Goodman Stadium.  Meanwhile, Colgate cruised to a 47-31 win at Lafayette to set up Saturday’s match-up of unbeaten teams.

Colgate leads the all-time series between these two schools, 23-16-2.  Lehigh has captured three out of the last five meetings.  In Hamilton, the Raiders boast a 14-6 advantage all-time, but Lehigh has won 4 of the last six meetings at Andy Kerr since 1993.  The series began in 1922, with Colgate picking up a 35-6 win over Lehigh in Binghamton, NY.  The last time these two squads met at Andy Kerr Stadium, the Mountain Hawks came out on top, 25-22 in 2001.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:30, and the action can be seen live on WFMZ-TV in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia, live on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh (DirecTV channel 628), and live on Empire Sports Network (DirecTV channel 626).
