Singleton climbs the charts, Mountain Hawks win

Bethlehem, PA- The Mountain Hawks overcame a sluggish start to win their fourth straight match Wednesday night, beating the visiting Loyola Greyhounds 3-1. In the process, Jeanette Singleton passed Kimberly Freedman for fourth place all-time in kills in Lehigh history.
The Mountain Hawks trailed early in the first game, before coming back to win 30-24. They again trailed during the second game, and could not rally as they lost 30-28. At that point Jeanette Singleton stepped up, and the offensive attack was ignited. Loyola kept it close, losing the third game 30-25, but eventually Lehigh’s defensive presence at the net and the continuous assault by Singleton overtook the Greyhounds and Lehigh pulled away in the fourth 30-15.

Singleton continued her torrid play of late with 22 kills on the night – she has averaged 23 per match the last three contests. Allison Jack had a great all-around performance on the night, dishing out 51 assists and leading the team with 14 digs. As a team, the Mountain Hawks (13-8, 4-2) played very well at the net, with 12 blocks (4 solo, 8 assisted). Becky Corb was brilliant in the losing effort for Loyola, leading everyone with 24 kills.
