American too much for Mountain Hawks

Baltimore, MD – In the first game of a three game road trip, Lehigh was defeated by American 5-0 on the campus of UMBC on Saturday afternoon. Lehigh (5-8, 0-3 Patriot League) stayed with the Eagles for the first half and only trailed 1-0 at the half, but American went on the offensive attack in the second half and scored four goals for the Patriot League win.
Camila Infante scored the first goal of the game at the 21:47 mark and American (8-1) took the early lead. Junior Jeanine Hoff got the start in goal and played very well, sending back seven Eagle shots on the afternoon. Lehigh was out shot 16-1 in the half, but was still able to keep it close.
The second half was Melissa Snyder’s personal showcase as she netted four goals, all within 20 minutes of one another. The Eagles again got off 16 shots, and held the Mountain Hawks to four in the second half. Sophomore Meghan Gove played the second half and stopped four shots.
Head Coach Julie Mazer liked the effort in the first half of her team, but would have liked the energy to continue into the second half. “We played very well in the first half, holding them to just one goal, but we didn’t play well in the second half, allowing them too many offensive opportunities.” Mazer adds, “We have to come back tomorrow and have a better effort for the whole game, we must sustain our energy level for the duration of the match.”
Lehigh gets right back to it tomorrow when the Mountain Hawks take on UMBC. Game time is set for 1:00.
