A consistent performer who excelled on the track during his time at Lehigh, Robert Jackson had a memorable four years for the Brown and White.
 
Jackson's long list of credentials includes being a member of the 1935 Penn Relays title winning one-mile relay team, the Middle Atlantic Conference 220-yard low hurdles champion, and the 440-yard dash champion in 1935. He also won the 400-yard hurdles for four consecutive years in Middle Atlantic AAU Championships and was the national AAU junior 400 meter hurdle champion in 1933. After establishing several school records for Lehigh, Jackson was named the winner of the McGrath Cup, given to the most outstanding Lehigh trackman.
 
Jackson also had tremendous success at Olympic Trials, as he took first place in the 400m at the Middle Atlantic Olympic tryouts, and then placed fourth at the Eastern Olympic Trials.
 
While at Lehigh, Jackson demonstrated superior leadership skills, serving as class secretary as a junior and class treasurer as a senior. He was also president of the Interfraternity Council and president and vice president of the PIAA Sports Official Association.
 
Jackson graduated from Lehigh in 1935 with a degree in business administration, worked for the Westinghouse Corporation for 38 years, and as a real estate agent for an additional three years. Jackson was highly involved in community affairs, as he was a member of the Rotary Club, Historical Society, School Authority, Town Watch, Meals on Wheels and the YMCA Building Fund.
 
Jackson also stayed active in the competitive area, serving as a track and field official for nearly 60 years. He was also involved as a swimming and diving official for 41 years. In 1988, he was inducted into the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame. Ten years later, he received statewide recognition for his accomplishments when he was honored by the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
 
Jackson passed away in 1999 at the age of 87. He lived in Philadelphia at the time of his death and was survived by his wife Jane, and their three children, Nancy, Virginia and Robert.
