HISTORY
Located just off Interstate-78 on Lehigh's Goodman Campus, the 16,000-seat Murray H. Goodman Stadium has South Mountain as a scenic backdrop beyond the stadium house and scoreboard located at the venue's north end. The facility provides first-rate accommodations on game day including offices, locker rooms, equipment rooms and an athletic training facility. Goodman Stadium is consistently recognized as having the "Best Game Day Atmosphere in the Patriot League".
Located in a rural valley surrounded by wooded hills, its ample parking makes tailgating before games very popular. Concession stands protected from the weather and large indoor restrooms are located under both sides of the stadium. It also features a three-tiered press box, camera platforms, limited chairback seating and a grass berm for extra lawn seating at the south end.
Lehigh has enjoyed a significant home field advantage at Goodman Stadium since it opened, holding a 111-52-1 (.680) mark with 20 winning seasons through the 2017 campaign. Lehigh won a stadium record 27 straight home games between 1997 and 2002, and has enjoyed five undefeated seasons at Goodman (1993, '98, '99, '00, '01).
Construction began on Goodman Stadium in February 1988 and was completed in just over eight months. In fitting with the natural bowl shape of the landscape, the sides of the stadium were built into the bankings surrounding the field surface. The stadium opened its doors for the first time on October 1, 1988, as a crowd of 13,501 fans watched Lehigh take down Cornell. The stadium brought tradition and style and used the goalposts that once stood in Taylor Stadium, which served as the home for Lehigh football from 1914-1987.
On November 23, 1991, the largest crowd in Goodman Stadium history of 19,110 witnessed Lehigh take down rival Lafayette in the 127th meeting of The Rivalry.
The stadium has played host to the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse National Championship game on three occasions including 1992, 1996 and 1997.
The playing field itself received a new grass field and irrigation system in 2009.
EVENTS
In addition to Lehigh football, Goodman Stadium annually hosts other athletic department/university events including:

In August 2015, executives from Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union and the United Soccer League (USL) announced the USL's newest expansion franchise - later named Bethlehem Steel FC - would play at Goodman Stadium beginning in the 2016 season. The franchise serves as the top affiliate of MLS's Philadelphia Union.
