Alex Stadler joined the Lehigh coaching staff in March 2020. He will coach the Mountain Hawks’ offensive line.

Stadler spent the 2019 season as an offensive analyst at Wake Forest, where he reunited with head coach Dave Clawson. Former Lehigh head coach Kevin Higgins is also on the Demon Deacons’ staff, while Lehigh head coach Tom Gilmore coached at Wake Forest in 2018 prior to his return to Lehigh.

Stadler coached on Clawson’s staff at Bowling Green in 2013. He moved on to Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas the following year and then went to Virginia State, where he spent four seasons coaching the offensive line. Stadler’s Virginia State teams experienced unprecedented success, highlighted by a CIAA championship and NCAA playoff appearance in 2017. Throughout his career, Stadler has mentored 16 players to all-conference honors and coached four All-Americans.

A native of Bealton, Va., Stadler began his college football career at Alabama before transferring to Liberty, where he was a three-year starter and three-year all-conference honoree on the offensive line. He was a team captain as a senior, while earning his bachelor’s degree in communications. Stadler added a master’s in sports administration from Liberty in 2013. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Liberty in 2011 and spent the 2012 season at Richmond.

Alex and his wife Heather will relocate to the Lehigh Valley.
