Lehigh Celebrates 2025-26 School Year at Annual Awards Convocation

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh Athletics celebrated the accomplishments of the 2025-26 academic year at the annual Student-Athlete Awards Convocation, held at Baker Hall inside Zoellner Arts Center on Monday, May 4. The Convocation featured the announcement of Lehigh's department award winners, the annual end of year highlights, superlatives and bloopers, and recognition of the athletic department's University award winners.

Women's track and field standout Laura Reigle won the department's highest honor, the Joseph D. Sterrett Graduating Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Reigle is a four-time Patriot League champion in the pole vault and a five-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree. She holds a 3.85 cumulative GPA majoring in design. Reigle was also one of 10 student-athletes to receive Distinguished Achievement awards.

The Karen A. Adams Graduating Female Athlete Award went to Abby Klebe from women's track and field. Klebe is a six-time Patriot League champion in the 800 meter run and was a 2025 NCAA first round qualifier in the event.

Men's lacrosse standout Richard Checo won the Graduating Male Athlete Award. Checo is a four-time first team All-Patriot League honoree and an honorable mention All-America. He holds the NCAA's career record for caused turnovers.

Lily Fandre from women's basketball won the Mary O. Hurley Leadership Award. Fandre was a team captain and 1,000-Point scorer for women's basketball, who won a Patriot League championship in 2025. She consistently shows up for others with strength, generosity, authenticity, humor and empathy.

The John A. Cable Award, presented to the department's outstanding graduating male leader, went to Tyler Ochojski from football. An All-American and Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Ochojski was a 2025 team captain and one of the leaders of the back-to-back Patriot League champion Mountain Hawks.

The top first-year male athlete award, the J. Daniel Nolan Award, went to Finn Morgan from men's lacrosse. The Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Morgan led Division I men's lacrosse first-year players with 45 regular season goals.

The John S. Steckbeck Award, given to the top first-year female student-athlete, was presented to Aubre Krazer from women's wrestling. A NCAA All-American and third place finisher, Krazer won a regional title and was the NWCA Super Region 2 Rookie of the Year.

The department's top service award, the Marlene "Linny" Fowler Service Award went to David Andolina from baseball. Andolina was a two-time Student-Athlete Mentor team captain who founded an ECON 001 Student-Athlete tutoring program serving more than 80 student-athletes per semester.

Katie Hurt from women's basketball won the department's Sportsmanship Award. A 2025 Patriot League champion, Hurt consistently brought the best for her teammates and showed it through her words, enthusiasm and celebration.

Ten student-athletes were recipients of the Distinguished Achievement Award. These recipients are senior student-athletes who have displayed a high level of scholarship, significant athletic achievement at the league level (and beyond) and demonstrated service to the institution. Winners included Reigle, Klebe, Checo and Ochojski, plus Max Brignola and Sheldon Seymour from men's wrestling, Wil Jaques from men's track and field, Mairin Ludwig from women's swimming and diving, Kiki Mes from field hockey and Matt Spatny from football.

Volleyball manager Cristian Matos was honored with the Phillip J. Sclar Award, which recognizes an underclass student worker or manager who exemplifies the spirit and character of the late Phil Sclar.
