No. 15 Saint Joseph’s Handles Lehigh 6-1

PHILADELPHIA - No. 15 Saint Joseph's overpowered Lehigh 6-1, on Friday afternoon at Ellen Ryan Field.
The 2024 National Runner-Up kicked off scoring at 13:56 in the first quarter, putting in a corner for a 1-0 lead.
At 4:25 in the opening quarter, the Hawks struck again, as Carly Hynd put in a high rebound shot to increase their lead to 2-0 into the second quarter.
Saint Joseph's had a three-goal second quarter, with two coming off of penalty corners. The Hawks carried their 5-0 lead into halftime, holding a dominant 15-0 advantage in shots in the first half.
Lehigh opened the second half strong, holding the Hawks scoreless throughout the third quarter. In the quarter, Lehigh thwarted three shot opportunities by the Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks carried their momentum into the fourth quarter, picking up a corner with 10:06 remaining in the game. Maddie Kandra capitalized on the corner to get Lehigh on the board, decreasing Saint Joseph's lead to 5-1.
With just over five minutes remaining in the contest, the Hawks responded with their sixth goal of the game, securing the 6-1 victory over Lehigh.
Kate Burgess recorded seven saves, her third-highest amount this season.
Lehigh (1-7, 0-1 PL) returns home to Ulrich Field on Sunday for a noon matchup with LIU.
