
Five Lehigh Wrestlers to Compete at U20 World Championships in Bulgaria

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Five Lehigh wrestlers across the men's and women's programs are set to compete at the United World Wrestling U20 World Championships, Aug. 17-24 in Samokov, Bulgaria.

Sophomore Luke Stanich will represent the United States and the Lehigh men's team when he competes at 65 kg.

On the women's side, sophomore Audrey Jimenez will compete at 50 kg for the United States. She will be joined by incoming first-years Abbi Cooper (53 kg) and Aubre Krazer (59 kg). Another incoming first-year, Mary Manis, will represent Greece at 62 kg.

Lehigh action begins Monday, Aug. 18, with Stanich competing in the qualification rounds at 65 kg in men's freestyle.

Krazer opens up women's freestyle for the Lehigh contingent on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Manis will wrestle on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Jimenez and Cooper will begin their tournaments on Thursday, Aug. 21. Wrestlers who qualify for the finals or medal rounds will compete on the day following their preliminary competition.

Stanich, a 2024 NCAA All-American who deferred eligibility last season, earned the right to represent the U.S. by winning the U20 National title and then defeating Bo Bassett 2-1 in the best-of-3 finals series in early June. Last month, Stanich won a gold medal at the U20 Pan-American Championships in Peru.

Jimenez, Cooper and Krazer qualified for the U20 World Championships by winning national titles in Spokane, Wash., in early April. This will mark the first of three World Championships for Jimenez, who will also represent the United States at the UWW Senior World Championships, Sept. 13-21 in Zagreb, Croatia and the U23 World Championships, Oct. 20-26 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Earlier this summer, Krazer won a gold medal at the Grand Prix of Spain event in Madrid. Lehigh women's head coach Brazel Marquez was one of the coaches for the U.S. contingent and will be with the Lehigh women's wrestlers in Bulgaria.
