Roth Tied For Lead After Opening Round Of UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened its spring season with a round of 311 Sunday in round one of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. Junior Jake Roth shot one under par 71 and is tied for the individual lead, while Lehigh is tied for 12th place in a 20-team field.

Roth's opening round 71 featured six birdies. He is tied for the lead with Thomas Schmidt of Arkansas State and Aidan Thomas of New Mexico State. Two players are tied for fourth place at even par.

The three other Mountain Hawks who contributed to the 311 all shot 80 Sunday and are tied for 75th place. Senior Jahan Bains and sophomore Charles Schrohe carded two birdies while junior Aiden LeBlanc made one. All four of Lehigh's top players birdied the par 5, 570-yard 18th hole in Sunday's opening round.

Junior Paulius Malcius shot 82 Sunday, with a pair of birdies, and is tied for 92nd place.

CSU Northridge and New Mexico State are tied for the team lead at 13 over par 301.
