Lehigh Finishes Fourth At Matthews Auto Invitational

APALACHIN, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team shot a final round 291 Monday to finish the two-day, 36-hole Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational at six under par 570 (279-291). Three players tied for 11th or better individually as the Mountain Hawks finished fourth in a 13-team field.
 
Senior Jake Roth led the way for Lehigh, tying for sixth place at three under par 141 (69-72). Roth made three birdies Monday.
 
First-year Drew Golden and sophomore Noah Zyung were part of a tie for 11th place at two under par 142, with both players shooting 68 Sunday and 74 Monday. Zyung made four birdies Monday while Golden carded a pair.
 
Lehigh's low round Monday was turned in by junior Matthew Quinn, who shot one under par 71 to tie for 23rd place at 145 (74-71). Quinn led Lehigh with six birdies in Monday's final round.
 
First-year Ryan Cronin and senior Will Caronchi, who competed as an individual for the Mountain Hawks, tied for 42nd place at 149 with identical rounds of 75 and 74. Both players made three birdies in their final rounds.
 
Iona captured the team title at 15 under par 561, with the Gaels holding off host Binghamton by two strokes.
 
The individual leaderboard also featured a two-stroke win for an Iona player over a Binghamton player, with Sahir Balyan finishing at nine under par 135 (65-70) to hold off Brandon Conner of Binghamton.
 
The Mountain Hawks will close out their fall season when they host the Lehigh Invitational on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club Oct. 25-26.
