Green Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh first-year running back Jaden Green has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Green played a big role in Lehigh's 35-20 victory over Princeton on Saturday, the Mountain Hawks' third straight win overall and their first over an Ivy League opponent in nearly eight years.
The San Francisco native carried the football 18 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns, establishing new career highs in all three areas. Green scored on an 11-yard rush in the second quarter, giving Lehigh a 14-7 lead it would not relinquish; and later helped put the game away with a 34-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter. In addition to being Lehigh's top rushing yardage gainer, Green added two receptions for 14 yards and returned a kickoff 28 yards.
For the season, Green has carried 45 times for 162 yards and three touchdowns. He is also averaging 31.8 yards on five kickoff returns.
Sophomore running back Luke Yoder and junior defensive lineman Matt Spatny garnered honorable mention recognition for their respective efforts against the Tigers.
Yoder carried 12 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns as he reached the end zone for the second consecutive game.
Spatny led a defensive effort that limited Princeton to just 212 yards of offense and minus-7 rushing yards. He finished with seven tackles, including 2.5 for loss and added 2.5 sacks, with a pass breakup and two quarterback hurries.
The Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play at home on Saturday when they host Bucknell on Tackle Cancer Day presented by Red Robin in partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Tickets can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-758-4263 during business hours.
