Roth Holds Share Of The Lead After First Day At Temple Invitational

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team continued their fall campaign on Saturday from the Temple Invitational hosted at the 1912 Club. The Mountain Hawks finished the day tied for fourth through 18 holes with a combined score of 289 while junior Jake Roth held a share of the lead after his first round.
 
Roth finished the day at -4, shooting a 66 in 18 holes to hold a tie for first place out of 66 golfers. He collected six birdies on the day while making par on ten.

Junior Paulius Malcius shot a 72 on the day, sitting him at +2 and in a tie for 15th place. Malcius made two birdies on the front nine and one on the back, shooting 35 and 37 respectively.

Junior Aiden LeBlanc concluded his day at +5 after shooting a 75 on the day, tying him for 38th place. LeBlanc birdied hole five and made par on 12 holes.

Senior Jahan Bains and first-year Noah Zyung found themselves both tied for 47th after shooting 76, setting them at +6 for the day. Each golfer birdied two holes on the front nine.

Sophomore Matthew Quinn, playing as an independent, concluded his day in 60th place after shooting an 80 on the day. He birdied a par three seventh hole on the front nine.
 
Lehigh currently sits at +9 after the first day of competition and held the lead at varying points throughout the round. The Mountain Hawks are five strokes behind first place Francis Marion, who leads at +4 (284).
 
Roth finished the day tied for the lead with Drexel's Drue Nicholas, while LaSalle's Armand Loscalzo sits one stroke behind them in third.
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to play at the 1912 Club on Sunday at 7 a.m. to conclude the Temple Invitational.
