Mountain Hawks Complete First 36 Holes At The Doc Gimmler

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team produced rounds of three over par 283 and even par 280 to open The Doc Gimmler, hosted by St. John's, Monday on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park. Junior Aiden LeBlanc delivered two rounds in the 60s to lead the Mountain Hawks, who at 563 sit sixth in a 12-team field.
 
LeBlanc is tied for fourth place at three under par 137 after rounds of 69 and 68. He made two birdies in the morning and five in the afternoon.
 
Senior Jahan Bains led Lehigh in round one, shooting three under par 67, then shot 71 in the afternoon to sit in a tie for ninth place at 138. Bains led Lehigh with eight birdies Monday, including five in the opening round.
 
Junior Jake Roth is tied for 34th place after shooting 144 with a 71 and 73. He carded three birdies in round one.
 
LeBlanc's 68 in round two was matched by junior Paulius Malcius, who rebounded from a morning 77 to go under par in the afternoon. Malcius carded four of his five birdies in round two and is tied for 42nd place.
 
Junior Will Caronchi is tied for 61st place after shooting 76 and 74 for 150. Caronchi made one birdie in each round Monday.
 
Columbia leads the team race after 36 holes at six under par 554. The Lions lead Harvard by three strokes and both North Dakota State and LIU by four.
 
Peicheng Chen from host St. John's and Columbia's Grant Lester are tied for the individual lead at six under par 134.
 
The Doc Gimmler concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play. After playing the Red Course at Bethpage on Monday, golfers will play the final round on Bethpage Black.
